  3. I got tired of the sluggish throttle response and that incessant keyboard
  4. *DING* while using the XWING.ADV program supplied with the WCS2, so I made
  5. my own that uses the GAME 2 type throttle control. While I was at it, I changed
  6. some of the other functions as well. I like it a lot!
  7.  
  8. FCS
  9. The 'Hat' functions the same way as with the original file, selecting various
  10. cockpit views. The Top Button selects the nearest threat as the target, the
  11. Middle Button selects the target in the crosshairs, and the Lower Button
  12. toggles the instrument display off and on. These functions remain the same,
  13. regardless of the WCS Rocker Switch position.

  16. The six buttons have functions that vary with each position of the Rocker
  17. Switch. I divided the buttons into two groups of three. When the Rocker
  18. Switch is Up, Button 1 selects the Weapon type, Button 2 toggles between
  19. Target and ID Mode, and Button 3 cycles forward through all available targets.

  21. With the Rocker Switch in the Middle position, Buttons 1,2 & 3 store the
  22. currently selected target into Memory. When the Rocker Switch is Down, Buttons
  23. 1,2 & 3 recall the stored targets from Memory.

  25. I've designated Button 4 as the 'ATTACK' button. With the Rocker Switch Up, it
  26. adjusts Laser Energy. With the Rocker Switch in the Middle, it transfers Energy
  27. from the Shields to the Lasers. With the Rocker Switch Down, it sends the
  28. command 'Wingman, Attack'.

  30. Similarly, I've designated Button 5 as the 'DEFEND' button. When the Rocker
  31. Switch is Up, it adjusts Shield Energy. With the Rocker Switch in the Middle,
  32. it transfers Energy from the Lasers to the Shields. With the Rocker Switch
  33. Down, it sends the command, 'Wingman, Cover Me'.

  35. Button 6 handles miscellaneous functions. When the Rocker Switch is Up, it 
  36. cycles through the weapon linked-fire options. When the Rocker Switch is in
  37. the Middle, it balances the Shields to equal strength, front and rear. With the
  38. Rocker Switch down, it sends tye command 'Go Home'.
